| Practitioner |
Any person whose primary employment is the transcription of medical reports. Any person holding Practitioner Membership in good standing shall be entitled to all membership privileges, including the right to vote, to hold office and a committee appointment, and to serve as a member of the House of Delegates.

| Student |
Any person who is verified as being enrolled in a 9-month or 2-semester medical transcription program and who is not paid to do medical transcription is eligible for Student Membership for one year. Any person who is verified as being enrolled in the second year of an 18- to 24-month medical transcription program and is not paid to do medical transcription and is eligible for Student Membership for a second year. The Student Membership may continue only during the actual period in which the person is a student and in any case for a period not exceeding 2 years. Student members are eligible to vote, to hold office, or to serve as members of the House of Delegates. Student members may serve on or as chairperson for chapter and/or state/regional committees, with the right to vote on committee decisions.

| Associate |
Any person interested in the purposes of the Association but not meeting the qualifications for Practitioner Membership. Associate Members may serve on committees as members but are not eligible to vote, to hold office or to serve as members of the House of Delegates
|
| Institutional |
Any healthcare delivery or education institution which employs or trains medical transcriptionists. Institutional Membership shall not be entitled to vote, to hold office or to serve as members of the House of Delegates
|
| Corporate |
Any company or manufacturer providing services or products to the field of medical transcription. Corporate Members shall not be entitled to vote, to hold office or to serve as members of the House of Delegates.
